Glamping Trip 2012!

Just a few of many glorious moments from our Glamping (glamour camping) trip to Okanagan Lake! I can't emphasize enough how great it was to get out of the city with some rad ladies, delicious food, sunshine and thrifting magic. We ended up going to the same campsite Jb and I went to a few years back except we had the most PRIME CAMPSITE EVER - all secluded and right on the water. We woke up both mornings to an incredibly pristine lake and lots of sun. Perfection.

If you follow me on Instagram (@lionheartvintage) you would know that we also managed to get in two excellent thrifting excursions in Summerland and Peachland. The Peachland excursion was complete chance - we just happened upon a rummage sale in a church basement. Two for one clothing! As I remembered from our last trip to the Okanagan, there were so many excellent granny clothes to snatch up and all at a super low price. Plus my friends Yvonne and Amanda snagged tons of mason jars for really cheap too. I love small town thrifting!

As I get older, I have grown to appreciate my Lady Time so much. Bonding with other women, sharing our stories and experiences, eating and laughing together, being greasy and gross, learning to take some things less seriously and realizing the importance of other things is SO AMAZING. I know that this kind of group lady time can be less common in many women's lives - I think due to the fact that we are socialized from a young age to compete against each other or to judge and police each other (and ourselves). Every time I have the pleasure of spending time with a group of women I realize the awesome spectrum of experiences, stories, bodies, aspirations and passions that are often hiding under the surface. Needless to say, I highly recommend taking a similar trip. Let's all lady bond post-haste! ^_^

More photos to come soon. We staged a sweet Moonrise Kingdom photo that I can't wait to show y'all.

At Home with Peonies.

These are a few shots I took of the leftover peonies from our engagement party before they wilted. Oh, they were glorious. They filled our little apartment with sweet smells and warmed my heart. The plate in the last photo was a gift from my lovely friend Anna.

Life has been filled with early mornings, heart-warming hangouts, wine drinking and bike riding. I've been thoroughly enjoying simply living life without much documentation, but my photography itch has been gradually coming back - and I know I won't be able to resist sharing it all with you...

Next week will bring an exciting ladies road trip to the Okanagan, so you can definitely expect another photo dump soon.

Happy Summer Solstice everyone!

Engagement Soirée.

peonies in kitchen

Yesterday was quite possibly one of the most lovely parties I have ever had the pleasure to have hosted. Jb and I invited our best buds over to celebrate our engagement, and boy did they come through! Not only did lots of people show up, but we now have literally piles of flowers, wine, champagne and various other alcoholic beverages filling our apartment - not to mention the amazing mishmash of beautiful and hilarious gifts. And to top it all off, our hangovers have been quelled by delicious leftovers and gorgeous peonies surrounding our kitchen table. A better way to celebrate a lifetime commitment I cannot imagine! As you can probably tell, I'm still a little giddy.

My lovely friend Rose works at a flower shop (I know, it was destiny) and she brought us a HUGE bunch of these incredible peonies. I couldn't stop bragging about them all night long. Arranging them was like something out of a dream.

It is truly a privilege to be able to host gathering like this. Every time I do, I realize how much I love witnessing different friends I've met along the way interacting with one another under. Watching people who I've known in various separate contexts meet, talk and laugh together has to be one of my favorite past times ever.

Hope your weekends have been glorious as well!

My lovely pal Georgia and I took a trip out to the Richmond jetty (aka Iona Beach) by the airport yesterday. This place has long been my old stomping ground, and was actually the location for one of my very first blog posts. It was lovely to escape the bustling, traffic-ridden city and drive  into the horizon. Also, there's something pretty magical about watching planes float into the airport from a sandy shore (although the magic is somewhat disturbed when we imagined all the pollution spilling from their bowels...).

This lil outfit, specifically the dog-print dress and cat pin, was inspired by my fast-growing need for a PET. After three beautiful years of finger attacks, bowl cleanings and bubble making our beloved Rodney the Fish passed into the blue yonder. To quote a friend, little Rodster is literally "swimming with the fishes" now and he will be missed. But with that said... I WANT A DOG. Patience Zoë, patience.

Have a lovely Thursday everyone!

xoxo.
