bed things.

i adore bed things. i can't count how many lacey slips i have now, most of which were bought at thrift stores or value village. even if i was a crazy old cat lady without any love interests i believe i would still own multiple pretty bed things, it's almost entirely a personal indulgence (although i'm sure JB doesn't mind either). my favorite of all is this peach slip from emily of golden fur vintage. she is so lovely and i am also a huge fan of her blog. her style is eclectic, mysterious and boyish - such a beautiful combination. do you guys have any favorite bed clothes?

since my JB's camera was stolen by lent to his work i had to make do with photobooth. sorry about the bad quality and the watermarks guys. but that reminds me, toycamera analogcolor is the program i use to give my digital photos that aged look. you can download it for free here.

outfit details:
- peach slip: Golden Fur Vintage
- white slip underneath: Value Village in Richmond (worn to cover up as peachy is a little small)
- embroidered house coat: Value Village in Richmond
- vintage mirror & brush: from my Grandma :)
- reading: The Sea Wolf by Jack London (classic seaward adventure)

thanks for popping in!

new years recap.

aahh new years. the time to dress up in your fancy clothes and pretend you're an adult. to fight over ipod mixes. to dance in an awkwardly over-sexual fashion. to spoon with a random household pet. to take weird group photos while singing really passionately to "hey jude" (seriously best new years song ever).

since i love being a latecomer on just about everything, i thought i'd post some new years pics half-way through january. i bought this american apparel dress just prior to the party and it really worked out, apart from the extreme static (which often resulted in bum flashing). i'm a little bummed (harhar) at how most of their skirts are see-through however. just use thicker lining, dammit. (i ended up using a slip, don't worry).

outfit details:
- peachy dress: AA
- feather headband: Dream Apparel in Gastown
- tights: Joe Fresh

i would love to have nights like this all the time, especially the dress-up part and the hideous dancing part.

happy belated new years everyone!

a new year, a new garden.

path and sun

rather than being inspired by sleek editorials or crisp runway shots (which are both glorious things, don't get me wrong), i'd like to think that my style is most influenced by nature. at least the feelings behind the style. the desire for earthiness, for rich tones, or for contrast between warm and cold colours - all can be found in the frost, the moss, the bark, or the crowding of succulents along a rock. i've realized this blog has unexpectedly become an homage to all things nature-related, with "fashion" taking a back seat. but to me, these scenes from nature are what will remain timeless in their inspiration. and that desire for timelessness ties into my love of vintage, i suppose. they both embody a connection to a deeper tradition, a past memory, a lost sense of nostalgia. these are my "style motivations". how about you?
