In an attempt to lessen our involvement in corporate profit, Jb and I have chosen to do our holiday shopping at local shops, craft fairs and/or buying second hand. Unfortunately neither of us are crafty enough to make our own gifts... unless macaroni portraits or finger paintings make good presents? No? Well in any case, it's actually made holiday shopping a lot more enjoyable. Getting the opportunity to check out some of our favorite local shops along Main Street (like Barefoot Contessa, Front & Co. and The Hach) was so much better than braving the malls or big box stores. However most of them were still packed with shoppers! It was also nice to have some quality time with our neighbourhood trees. They're so big and beautiful.
Oh, we also happened to find THE MOST ULTIMATE PHOTO SPOT EVER. No big deal, just a beautiful brick wall, perfect soft lighting and a random Christmas tree. It almost looks like a studio, but don't be fooled, it's a sketchy back alley. Yay!
my outfit details:
- Pearly blue sweater from Aberdeen Mall... sorry I forget the store!
- Surprise! Wearing the thrifted black velvet skirt again... ^_^
- Swedish Hasbeen High Penny Loafers
- Fieldguided tote
- Thrifted vintage wool coat
- Thrifted vintage knit beret
jb was wearing levi jeans and his zeha boots.
Thanks for stopping by!
xoxo.
I would also add Walrus and anywhere on Granville Island for local stores. Although GI might be crawling with tourists at this time of the year!

I really like the idea of doing all your Christmas shopping in a local hand made way like that. Also yes it really does look like a studio, good find!

ReplyDeleteDee - I agree, Walrus and GI are totally part of that list!
Nina - You're a doll! Thanks for letting me know about the Barefoot Contessa fb page. :)
i am so jealous of that skirt. want!
ReplyDeletealso, i love your ombre hair! i currently have the blonde version on my head and seeing yours looking so pretty makes me feel a lot better about my tri-color situation. if it looks half as good as yours then i must look somewhat decent ;)
you are definitely making me regret putting back that velvet skirt I tried on at salvation army a few months ago because it was so warm in the store I couldn't stand it. You are rocking it!
ReplyDeleteand... I love those gingerbread man ornaments AHHH! they remind me of katamari damacy
That blue top looks lovely on you! I can't believe you found that spot in a back alley!
