one more cup of coffee for the road.

check.

oh man, i have been absent lately. i'm trying ever so hard to keep the content coming on this little blog so i thought i'd post some pictures from our recent camping jaunt. this trip was brilliant. i want to camp forever. EVER EVER.

we found this stick in the forest to roast hot dogs on. apparently stealing sticks is illegal. so pretending to poke people with them is too.

anyone else have epic camping experiences this summer? i encourage you to drive somewhere pretty and just pitch a tent. unplanned is always best.

deep roots.

upward over.

today we went to my childhood neighbourhood. i grew up in a part of new westminster called sapperton. full of old houses and cracked cobblestone and ancient cemeteries. we traveled up my street, stood under the giant tree on my old boulevard. i can't remember the last time i felt so at peace - seeing my beginnings, telling jb my stories, listening to the silence only a sunny saturday in your childhood suburb can bring. we visited all the old graves i used to stare at when i was young - enchanted by their stillness; entertaining a childish curiosity in their quirks yet instantly matured by their stoic timelessness. i think this early introduction to the peaceful finality of death has played a huge role in my life.

reflecting life.

as we walked around this place so full of memories, innocence and exploration, while adjusting to the absence of traffic noise and sirens, i realized i had uncovered something very beautiful: a pocket of my childhood that was and will always remain magical to me - and i was fortunate enough to share it with the man i love.

stella resort.

stella resort 1
stella resort 2

oh stella. you've done so well for yourself. you could have gone the nicole richie route but you've proven you are more than just a famous musician's daughter. i know the fashion industry has given you many props and accolades prior to this collection, but this is my first true moment of adoration for you. that lace! those scallops! those jackets! good lord. total respect knuckles.

sorry for the somewhat crappy quality of the photos - still figuring out my photo-editing program... check out the link above for better quality pics.

another new blog look.

another new look post_effected
hello internet friends,

thanks for bearing with me while i attempt to stumble my way through html and get this blog looking pristine. my apologies for the ever-changing aesthetic! (indecisiveness is one of my beefiest qualities.) i welcome any feedback on the changes.

in the meantime, check out the new tumblr if you feel so inclined - it will be a visual channel to the blerg and i'll be updating it frequently with pretty pictures found on the net.

outfit post coming soon!

things i love thursday.

after reading robyn's lovely blog twitch vintage for a while, i've decided to do a little "things i love thursday" post of my own. it's also just a way to use some of the many random pictures i have stored in my iphoto. i mean honestly, it's getting ridiculous.

1. horsies.

horsies.

i don't know about you but i was a definitely horse fiend as a child. i collected any book about horses i could get my hands on (pony pals, anyone?), went to "horse camp" in the summer and always demanded we stop to pet horses on country road trips. but for reals, horses are THE coolest animals on the planet. so powerful yet tender!! i'd even put them above puppies in terms of coolness, and that's saying a lot.

2. vintage glasses.

vintage glasses.

this is kind of obvious, since vintage frames are definitely back "in" lately. but i just love the silliness of them - so intentional and awkward. it was almost like "well, you're wearing glasses so you've already gone down on the hot scale, might as well make them the biggest, most obvious thing on your face." i enjoy that.

3. caramel apples.

caramel apples i will always accept.

caramel apples are god's gift to the carnival - and thus, to me, the carnival-goer. i would say that a granny apple and a bowl of caramel is the epitome of food-harmony. end of story.

4. organs.

organs.

ever since i answered a "free vintage organ" ad in the paper i have been in love. the foot pedals, the buttons, the built-in beats... i would have a room dedicated to organs if i lived in a victorian mansion. for now one organ squeezed into the corner of our 2 bedroom suite will have to suffice.

5. awkward portraits of celebrities.

bowie portrait!

bowie, in all his airbrushed glory, makes this truck a total winner. i love that people want to paint life-like portraits of other people on things. when you think about it, it's a total waste of time and energy. but this brought joy to me and probably many other bowie-lovers. so i guess i stand corrected.

have an awesome weekend!
